Looking back, I am confident that I was born and raised to be a family law attorney. Born in Connecticut to small-town Texans, I lived in central Texas with my mother and spent school breaks with my father in Connecticut. I grew up with divorced parents who never denigrated each other in front of their children. As a family lawyer, I especially recognize this gift from my parents.
While I intended to be either a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader or the President of the United States, I initially followed in my mother’s footsteps to be an educator, even taking a class from her while at Tarleton State University (Bleed Purple!). I like to say that a year of teaching junior high English in Mineral Wells, Texas, sent me straight to law school, but those seventh graders in that community taught me more about the world around me than I realized I did not know. I entered The University of Texas School of Law without many of the experiences of my peers, but with a deep understanding of my privilege to begin an education in the law in such hallowed halls. (Hook ‘Em!)
After UT Law, I returned to Stephenville, Texas, and started work as an associate. After almost a decade working for someone else, I co-founded Fraser, Wilson & Bryan, PC, where I practiced law with two of my favorite attorneys. After 20 years, it was time to start another firm, and now I'm solo in Stephenville. (Hmmm…that might be a country and western song.)
While I practice mainly family law and am honored to serve on the State Bar of Texas Family Law Council, I also handle guardianship, probate and estate planning matters, and provide mediation services too. I stay involved with real estate by serving as a Qualified Intermediary in 1031 transactions - ask me about tax deferrals in real estate sales!
