If you’re facing divorce, documents like pay stubs, recent tax returns, and a basic list of assets and debts can also be helpful. Don’t worry if you don’t have everything yet—just come as you are, and we’ll take it from there.

Not always. Many family law matters are resolved outside the courtroom through negotiation or mediation. But if a trial is necessary, I’ll advocate for you every step of the way.

Do I have to go to court?

Texas follows community property laws, meaning assets acquired during the marriage are divided fairly — not always 50/50 — based on what’s just and right in your specific case.

Filing for divorce requires a 60-day waiting period that starts the day we file your petition. If your case is truly uncontested and agreed, your divorce will be final within a few days after the waiting period. If your divorce is complex or starts out contested, it may take months or even over a year to finalize. We'll keep you informed of every step along the way
